Your tutor will tailor lessons to your needs and ability. Tutoring sessions are designed to increase your English fluency primarily in speaking and listening skills. Topics could include speaking to a doctor, talking with your child’s teacher, or communicating with customers at work. You will work with your tutor to learn the skills you need at your level.

Start by sending an email to LVTLearners@gmail.com. We will get back to you and request some additional information, including the days and times you are available to meet with a tutor. Our Director of Learner-Tutor Matching will assign you a tutor who is available during those times as soon as one becomes available.

This depends on how quickly a tutor becomes available who matches the same days and hours of availability that you have indicated. Matching you with a tutor may take a while because there is a waiting list which tends to be long. Please be patient. Our goal is to find you a tutor as soon as possible. While you are waiting, there are online programs which allow you to start practicing.

You will meet with your Tutor once a week. Each Tutor and Learner pair sets their own schedule. You and your Tutor will decide on a mutually convenient day and time for your meetings. Most Tutors and Learners meet for between 1 and 2 hours per week. Most Tutors and Learners also take a few weeks off for vacations and holidays.

If you can meet face-to-face, then you would get together at the Warner Library during normal operating hours in the Tutor Resource Center on the 3rd floor, or in an available conference room.  If you are doing remote tutoring, then it can be whenever you and your tutor decide to meet online.

La mayoría de los tutores y alumnos se reúnen entre 1 y 2 horas por semana. La mayoría de los Tutores y Aprendices se toman algunas semanas de vacaciones y días festivos.

Si puede reunirse cara a cara, se reuniría en la Biblioteca Warner durante el horario normal de funcionamiento en el Centro de recursos para tutores en el tercer piso o en una sala de conferencias disponible.
